Work Experience

We have offered work experience to paid members in the past where it will benefit both the student and the club. We will also consider work experience for those with rare skills such as health and safety, accountancy and engineering.

As a general rule of thumb, work experience is available all year with December being reserved for students who have worked with us in the past and were successful. Please feel free to apply all year round however.

Work experience offered in the past has been office based and because of our supervision requirements, makes an airside placement difficult to arrange. We expose the student to the responsibilities of the flight operations office which are wide ranging and changeable. We feel this gives you valuable insight into the workings of the aviation industry. Typical tasks of the office staff are:

  • Sales
  • Cash managment
  • Flight scheduling
  • Customer services
  • Website updating
  • Records keeping
  • Aircraft Loadmaster
  • Graphic design

As can be seen by the list of responsibilities, this is a demanding role and one that will earn respect on your CV. This is not your average tea making placement!

Requirements

  • Excellent arithmetic skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organization and time management
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Flight student or other relevant experience in light aircraft a major plus
  • Cash management experience a plus
  • Ability to work from 9am and weekends a plus
  • Work with a smile...
If you feel you could be considered for a placement then please come and introduce yourself and drop off your current CV. Your CV should show how you meet the above requirements and should be no longer than one side of A4. Applications received via email or post will not be considered.
